Myrta J. Pulliam
DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL PROJECTS, THE INDIANAPOLIS STAR
Myrta Pulliam has chaired Women’s Fund’s Leadership Society and has served on the Communications Committee and Grants Committee. Myrta has devoted her career to journalism, working as a feature writer for the San Diego Evening Tribune and joining the Indianapolis Star in 1970. Prior to her current position, she served as director of electronic news and information and held a number of positions in editorial areas. She was a member of the Indianapolis Star’s prize winning investigative team.
Myrta is the founder and former board member of Investigative Reporters and Editors, worked on its Arizona Project and is a member of its endowment committee. She has served on the board of governors of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, chair of the Indianapolis Prize, and executive committee member, board member and former board chair of the Indianapolis Zoo. She also serves on the boards of Queens University, DePauw University, Methodist Health Foundation and Flanner House Foundation.
Myrta attended Queens College in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is a graduate of the United States International University at San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in art. Of her interest in Women's Fund, Myrta said: “Women’s Fund is such an important concept. It’s obvious the need is there.”
