Q&A with Anne Steinberg, Advisory Board Member

by Kelly Young

Q. What first drew you to Women’s Fund?
A.
So many things! Their leadership was top notch, Jennifer was a force to be reckoned with, and what better organization to support that kept a keen focus on assistance to women and girls.

Q. Who are/were your role models for "giving back" to your community and how did they influence you?
A.
My biggest influence was my mother. We grew up giving back in ways that were more labor intensive, such as spending many evenings and weekends at child care centers for disabled children and a local orphanage. After spending a lot of time using elbow grease in my 20's, after my career was established, I was ready to move off the street and into a conference room to make financial decisions for organizations.

Q. What issues impacting women & girls are you most passionate about? Do you have any personal connection to any of these issues?
A.
I am astounded at how many barriers can evolve for a woman who has her life together one day and the pieces fall apart the next. I am fortunate to not have many barriers in my personal path that involve such hopeless situations we hear about through Women's Fund, but I have had enough life experience to know how easily accidental barriers can arise.

Q. What would you tell other women and girls about Women's Fund to encourage them to get involved?
A.
Women's Fund is one of the smartest philanthropic organizations I have ever been involved with. The Advisory Board members are educated on the issues facing women and girls, and make all decisions focused on this base of knowledge. The staff is steadfast at recognizing shortfalls in the community and sharing where we can make an impact.

Q. What aspirations and hopes do you have for women and girls in Central Indiana?
A
. I go for the home run - that Women's Fund won't be needed in the lifetime of my daughters!

Q. Tell us a little more about yourself.
A
. I am a working mom of three girls, ages 6, 4, and 2. My career is an event planner with Detail + Design. I live with my husband and little ladies in Zionsville. I would say I do fabulous things in my free time, but I don't necessarily have a lot of free time! Besides my involvement with the Women's Fund, I also participate on the board of the Zionsville Education Foundation and am currently acting as the Vice President of the Children's Museum Guild.
